The Black Horse Village Pub


Located at the end of Black Horse Lane, South Mymms, the traditional 18th Century Black Horse Pub is a friendly, warm family pub.




The Black Horse is a warm, cosy, friendly family pub and has a large car park available for visitors and those wishing to enjoy the beautifal country walks of South Mimms and the nearby Redwell Wood.

The Black Horse Pub offers Real Ales, Guest Beers and a wide range of Bar Snacks as well as a full restaurant service available through the day seven days a week.

The interor decor is traditional wooden beams, brass plaques and an open fire. There is a seating section for eating and a separate sections with a large television and dart board, which is used weekly by local darts teams.

The Black Horse dates back to 1709 when it started off life as 'The unicorn'.

Before the Black Horse Pub, there was a house on the site and in 1641 the owner paid 10 shillings for the vicar of South Mimms to preach the Good Friday Sermon in his front parlour.

Much the same can be said of Black Horse Lane, which was once part of the main coaching road between London and North Wales and a favourite lurking spot for highwaymen.

The Black Horse Pub is a Dog Friendly pub and open to all who walk their dogs around South Mimms.

We are open seven days a week from 12:00 pm to 11.30pm Food is served Daily up till 9:00pm
